Wedding fair debut
Hi all…it turns out this week’s post sort of follows the theme of last week.
Last Sunday I attended my first promotional wedding fair. It was relatively small, promoting a local venue and the new partnership they have established with a great chef. For me it was another dip of the toe into the world of marketing.
I needed to get into the mind set of self-promotion. Something I have been told is important and something I have never been good at. I am not particularly comfortable talking about myself.
I this instance it was relatively easy…let my work do the talking.
I had samples of my work printed for people to look at and hold. I think the sensation of holding a photograph made on good quality paper is a real pleasure (thanks Pro Print Lab).
I made an easel-style set of shelves to hold an old camera display (thanks Emma for the lend) to add atmosphere.
Throw in a sample album, a bowl of lollies, a couple of c-stands, competition jar, a large printed Grant Wells Photo logo (Todd Rogers Signs) and my stand was complete. I think it came up pretty well.
I also threw together a small time-lapse of the prep…enjoy.
Next week I look like I will be heading to Melbourne on assignment so I will be having the battle of camera gear versus small carry-on weight limits. I think that may make a good topic for next week’s post.
Until then, happy shooting.
