This blog is going to be a mix of what I'm up to now, a look back at some of my past favourites, maybe some equipment and technical stuff and whatever else you would like to see...but primarily with a photographic theme.

On the Streets

Hi All

Just back from the Aperture photography conference in Sydney. It was great to catch up with good mates Mark Jesser and Ben Eyles. Needless to say, some stories were told and beverages consumed…and there may have been one or two pics taken.

I was a little underwhelmed by the trade section of the conference, but I did get to play with the new Fujinon 200mm f2. It is a beast of a lens…but given its beastiness it is surprisingly light to handle.

Thanks to Mark Jesser for the image. The shot below is taken on my X-T3 iso800 1/250 f2.8 (straight crop…no editing)…thanks to the Nikon staffer for being my victim.

One of the goals of the trip was to hopefully gain a bit of motivation. All of the featured speakers were inspirational in their own way. Each had their own unique story, but they all had a common thread…their drive and passion for what they do. Another commonality was that they have all evolved, diversified or totally changed from where they started…and most have personal projects aside from their professional work…something I need to find at the moment (my exhibition filled that void last year).

I super-loved walking the streets with my camera. It feels like you start seeing again when you visit a new city/place…the architecture, people and light…love it!

This trip was the first time I really tested out the X-T3…I purchased it primarily as my carry around camera and it was selected specifically because of its resemblance to an analog camera. It is super-modern and has amazing features…but I wanted a shutter speed dial, an aperture ring and a focus ring…back to the basics. I am now officially in love with this camera. All the following images are from it with the 23mm f2 lens. Enjoy.
