This blog is going to be a mix of what I'm up to now, a look back at some of my past favourites, maybe some equipment and technical stuff and whatever else you would like to see...but primarily with a photographic theme.

Wear sunscreen

Hello. Welcome back.

What’s been happening?

One of my wife’s most repeated sayings of late is “I hate winter”.

I don’t. What about you? Yes it’s cold. But we have been rewarded with some absolutely magnificent days. Blue skies, no wind…stunning.

Had you asked me a few years back when I was still shooting for the newspaper i may have given a different response.

There is probably nowhere more miserable than the boundary line at West Park, covering a football match, when icy rain is sleeting in on a westerly howler. My fingers are aching just thinking about it. Mind you, McKenna Park hockey centre would give it a run for it’s money!

Thankfully, those days are behind me.

Flipping to a polar opposite…WEAR SUNSCREEN!

I recently had a run-in with a scalpel blade to remove a skin cancer. Anglo-Saxon skin and Tasmanian UV are not a good mix. It’s probably put paid to any chance of an international modelling career…but I reckon my head in general had that covered…lol.

My hands are also showing the effects of years of exposure. I am seriously thinking about some sort of protective glove as the UV levels increase. It’s almost impossible to keep sunscreen on them…especially if you wash them as much as we should. If any of you can recommend some I would love to hear from you.

Our newest family member, Heidi, has settled in amazingly well. It’a like she has always been here. She has a beautiful personality and not a day goes by when she fails to make us smile.

On the work front I have recently done a bit for Mudlark Theatre Company to help promote its latest production The Box. From the snippets I saw during shooting it looks to be well worth a look. It’s not for kids (language) and the subject matter could be considered confronting by some.

Corporate portraits have been a thing…capturing some smiling faces at local organisations, 7BU and Harcourts (Central Coast)…some lovely people at both places. Unfortunately, I can’t show you any samples as my main computer has died (or is on life support) and is in the hands of the techs at the Mac Shop as I write. I hope it can be revived and returned to me asap. Just doing this blog is taxing my vintage laptop…and consequently my patience!

Photography from a personal project perspective has been particularly problematic. I am missing my mojo. I just can’t seem to find any motivation. I don’t know what the issue is…but it’s a worry.

I have just had a call from a friend needing my handyman services, so I might finish here.

Be nice to each other and I will catch you next time.

Cheers!
